Jim Murray got his first camera at age 11 and has been carrying one with him ever since. He grew up in the canyon country of Utah and western Colorado and although he's always felt most at home in the desert, the curiosity to explore the rest of the world never ceases to beckon him.

After finishing high school Jim spent the next several years traveling around the USA, settling briefly in South Carolina, and later in Oregon where his career in music started to take off.

In 2001, Jim moved to Japan. He now lives just outside Tokyo, where he makes a living at the piano by night and wanders the land by day, clicking the shutter.
